Washington, DC has a Bluegrass history dating back to the early 1940’s, when thousands of people arrived in the nation’s capital during World War II. They came from rural areas and points south, bringing their banjos, fiddles and guitars along with them. Today, the region is still home to some of the best Bluegrass musicians in the world. The 2012 Kingman Island Bluegrass and Folk Festival will feature some of the area's most talented Bluegrass bands. Beverages and food will be available for purchase from local vendors
